Telegram users can send gifts to friends, TON fails to pump

Toncoin has failed to show a positive increase in price despite Telegram recently announcing new features.

Telegram also announced a gift feature, along with several other new features in its app. However, Toncoin (TON) failed to show a positive rise despite the new addition to the social media messaging application.

TON is trading at $5.22, down 2.7% in the last 24 hours. According to CoinGecko, the cryptocurrency has fallen over 10% in the last seven days.

In most cases, a big announcement is usually followed by a price increase. However, despite slightly positive conditions in the crypto market, TON was unable to reverse its negative trend.

Telegram users can now send gifts to their friends

Telegram’s latest announcement introduces a new feature where users can send gifts to their friends. The person receiving the gift can use it to showcase it on their profile page or even turn it into a star.

Telegram CEO Pavel Durov also announced that some gifts are available in limited quantities. He also stated that they will introduce a feature that will turn these gifts into TON-based NFTs.

This is not the only statement made by Telegram. They also introduced a platform that can verify customer phone numbers for businesses.

He also improved the Telegram reporting interface. In the announcement, it was emphasized that the moderators of the application removed millions of content that violated the terms of service.

They have now beefed up the system with more capabilities to include more details and categories of the breach.

iOS gets redesigned video chats

Telegram announced that they have completely rebuilt video chats on iOS devices to improve battery life and performance.

This also means that devices now stay significantly cooler during long calls, even with multiple video streams from dozens of participants.

Android users now get live streaming support with RTMP. This feature was previously available on iOS and desktop and has now been extended to Android.

Despite all the new features, TON delivers a quiet performance. TON was trading above $8 in mid-2024.

However, when Durov was arrested, the price took a hit. However, the price is now slowly recovering.
