Bitcoin Surpasses $64,000, Trending Meme Coins Also Rise (Market Watch)

The total cryptocurrency market capitalization increased by more than $50 billion in the last 24 hours and is currently around $2.35 trillion.

This is due to the price increases of Bitcoin and most altcoins. Some popular meme coins are also exploding, so let’s take a quick look at them.

As you can see from the chart, the rise was sudden and took the price from under $63,000 to over $64,000 on an hourly candle. The bears tried to make it down, but couldn’t, and the bulls are currently in control.

This can also be seen in the derivatives market, which marked more than $180 million in leveraged positions in the last 24 hours. Almost $120 million of these were short traders, highlighting the strength of buyers today.

Altcoins Pop, Meme Coins Surge

As evident in the heat map below, most altcoins are also posting gains.

Some work better than others, of course. For example, from the large-cap cryptocurrencies, SOL is up more than 4%, while ETH and XRP struggle to rise more than 1%.

Things are getting more interesting in the meme coin category, where trending coins like BRETT and MOG are skyrocketing. Both have risen significantly, with the former exploding around 20% daily and the latter around 12%.

Base chain Meme coins, however, have the best performance of all categories in the crypto market. Overall, they are up more than 12% in the last 24 hours.
