Solana wallet Phantom suffers downtime amid GRASS airdrop

Phantom Wallet reported an outage incident and asked its users to be patient while the team works to resolve the issue.

On October 28, the Phantom Wallet team reported that the Solana (SOL) web3 wallet on X encountered an “uptime incident.” According to the developer team of the multi-chain wallet, some services were temporarily interrupted.

Users are advised to use decentralized applications if they need to make urgent transactions.

“We are currently experiencing an uptime event and some services may be temporarily interrupted. If you need to take action urgently, please ignore simulation errors and try using a dapp.”

According to SolanaFloor, Phantom Wallet’s outage is caused by a backend event related to Grass Airdrop One.

Grass is a Solana-based AI data layer that launches its highly anticipated airdrop on October 28, 2024. The platform’s token distribution has also seen it listed on several top crypto exchanges, including Bybit, Bitget, KuCoin and Crypto. com.

Although the airdrop affects Phantom Wallet, the Solana network itself remains online. The SOL blockchain network has maintained 100% uptime at the time of this writing, demonstrating resilience compared to the frequent downtimes experienced a few years ago.

SolanaFloor claims that the distribution of the GRASS meme coin is the largest distribution in Solana history, considering the number of users. The platform reports that 2 million users have tried to trade GRASS tokens in the last few hours.

In August, Telegram Wallet and a number of crypto exchanges faced outages due to the Dogs (DOGS) token. The DOGS outage lasted several hours and Telegram Wallet experienced multiple outages.
