Consensys’ Joe Lubin introduces sovs.xyz, inviting users to assert personal sovereignty over the chain as a step towards a decentralized, self-governing future.
Consensys-backed layer 2 solution Linea hosts a new platform where users can assert personal sovereignty over the chain, contributing to a broader vision of a decentralized future.
In an X thread on November 15, Consensys chief executive Joe Lubin introduced a platform called “sovs. .
We are on the verge of a paradigm shift that will be heard all over the world.
Consensys is on a mission to catalyze a State of Network in the emerging decentralized Web3 and AI global economy.

In a series of posts, Lubin described the initiative as part of Consensys’ commitment to what he calls “progressive, cautious decentralization” of digital life. He framed the project as a path to personal autonomy and self-ownership, claiming that many users are “already self-sovereign online and on-chain.”
The attestation process at sovs.xyz records personal commitments as cryptographic proofs in Linea, making each declaration a permanent, unalterable declaration. Consensys says this approach aims to increase transparency while also allowing individuals to customize their declarations of sovereignty according to categories such as cultural independence and legal autonomy.
Beyond personal sovereignty, Ethereum supporters see the initiative as a step towards “network states,” communities with self-determined rules and on-chain governance. While Lubin stated that “we will live most of our lives on-chain,” he added that the platform is just one part of the company’s plans to enable decentralization and community-led infrastructure.
