Webull, a regulated trading platform, has expanded its crypto futures offerings by partnering with Coinbase Derivatives.
The retail brokerage and digital investment platform announced the development on November 20, noting that the integration opens up crypto futures trading opportunities for US retail traders.
This comes after Webull launched futures and commodities trading in March 2024. Meanwhile, Coinbase Derivatives received approval as a futures exchange from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in August 2023.
Thanks to their collaboration, Webull will now be able to offer its customers in the US access to futures contracts for Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). The CFTC and SEC registered platform will directly offer Bitcoin (BIT), nano Bitcoin (BIT), Ethereum (ETI) and nano Ether (ET) on its platform.
Specifically, Coinbase has been offering Bitcoin futures trading since June 2022. It has since expanded and recently added futures trading for Dogecoin (DOGE), Litecoin (LTC), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH).
“Integrating Coinbase Derivatives’ regulated and trusted framework into the Webull platform will create more opportunities for Webull users to access digital assets.”
Anthony Denier, Group President and US Chief Executive Officer of Webull.
Denier added that the addition of futures trading brings new financial products to retail investors.
Greg Tusar, vice president of enterprise product at Coinbase, stated that the integration will benefit from Webull distribution. This unlocks greater access to regulated crypto investment products and helps grow the overall market, Tusar said.
Traders will benefit from smaller sized contracts and Coinbase Derivatives’ 23-hour, six-day-a-week trading structure. Coinbase will also offer real-time market data for free to Webull users.
“Smaller size contracts provide greater access to crypto futures for Webull users looking to diversify their portfolios in this market segment. “We look forward to the financial opportunities this will open up for our users.”
Arianne Adams is Webull’s chief strategy officer and head of derivatives.
Webull plans to make these products available to US users in the coming months.
