DOGS meme coin partners with NGO to save homeless strays

Popular Telegram meme coin DOGS has teamed up with Best Friends Animal Society to increase funding for animal shelters and inspire the crypto community to support animal welfare causes.

In a joint press release, DOGS pledged to play an active role in supporting the No-Kill Pledge, a Utah-based nonprofit organization that aims to achieve a minimum 90% savings rate for animals entering shelters, by 2025.

Over the next year, the TON-based meme coin will fund animal shelters so they can achieve no-kill by 2025, ensuring the safety of animals across America. In 2023, U.S. shelters achieved an 83% savings rate, rescuing 3.97 million of the 4.76 million cats and dogs held in shelters.

“The $DOGS Community has generously donated $150,000 to help pets like Rusty, who have been patiently waiting at our sanctuary in Kanab, Utah, find their way to loving families,” Best Friends Animal Society said in a social media post.

Not only that, through this partnership, DOGS mascot Spotty will become the official ambassador of Best Friends Animal Society. The black-and-white spotted dog will be featured at events and marketing materials for the nonprofit next year. Spotty was created by Telegram and VK founder Pavel Durov during a charity auction for orphaned children.

DOGS also promised to expand its support by funding a month’s care for adopted dogs, while encouraging the crypto community to do the same. In keeping with this new partnership, the DOGS team has announced plans to unveil a new platform focused on helping nonprofits around the world receive funding. In the statement, it was stated that details regarding the eligibility and application procedures for the platform will be shared soon.

DOGS founder Andrew noted that the token’s partnership with Best Friends Animal Society serves as a “call to action” for the crypto community to support animal welfare, starting with efforts to make a 90% no-kill benchmark a reality by 2025.

“Together, we show how blockchain innovation and compassion can combine to transform the lives of not only animals but the families who embrace them.”

Since its launch in August 2024, DOGS has partnered with many charities and raised more than $450,000 for causes such as Save the Orphans, Save the Children, Animal Charity Evaluators and cancer research.
