Animoca Brands Japan backs blockchain gaming platform Oasys

Oasys, a gaming-optimized blockchain platform with notable partnerships like Ubisoft and Yield Guild Games, has signed another major collaboration through a deal with Animoca Brands Japan.

The gaming-focused blockchain announced on December 17 that Animoca Brands’ Japanese subsidiary has invested directly in Oasys and will also join as a new validator. As part of the partnership, Oasys will leverage the strength of Animoca Brands to expand its presence in the Greater China region.

“Through this partnership, we aim to provide game developers and users worldwide with more innovative experiences that enhance the blockchain gaming market,” said Oasys representative director Ryo Matsubara.

Animoca Brands, a leading web3 company based in Hong Kong, uses blockchain technology to bring digital property rights to consumers. The company’s metadata and gaming portfolio has grown to include more than 540 projects featuring leading industry players such as Yuga Labs, creator of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), Polygon, Axie Infinity, and OpenSea.

By securing this partnership with Animoca Brands Japan, Oasys joins a group of leading platforms and projects leveraging Animoca’s role as the gateway to web3 gaming adoption. This collaboration will help Oasys explore further growth opportunities in Japan and globally.

The Oasys mainnet went live in October 2022 and has seen increased adoption over the past few years. The platform received investment from SBI Holdings, Japan’s largest financial company, in 1999. The agreement with the Tradfi giant is not the only blow to the industry.

Recently, Oasys signed a deal with Ubisoft, the video game studio behind Assassin’s Creed, Brawlhalla, and Far Cry. Ubisoft has announced its entry into web3 gaming with an upcoming game on Oasys.
