Solana GameFi network Sonic will give away free tokens to TikTok users in exchange for participating in the crypto game.
Layer 2 gaming-centric Solana native network Sonic plans to send SONIC tokens to participating TikTok users via the social media blockchain game. The Solana (SOL) Virtual Machine protocol designed the SonicX game directly on TikTok, similar to the Open Network developers behind Telegram minigames.
The idea revolves around leveraging existing web2 audiences for web3 projects and reaching millions of users already on platforms like Telegram and TikTok.
More than 1 billion monthly active users log in to TikTok, and this number is expected to exceed 2 billion by 2029.
SonicX, Sonic SVM’s first TikTok App Layer, will distribute $SONIC tokens to all eligible TikTok users. More than 2 million users have already joined with a seamless onboarding flow; No external wallet setup or gas fees required.

Social media specific games have become very popular on TON and Telegram. Projects such as Notcoin (NOT) and Hamster Kombat (HMSTR) have amassed millions of users in a few months.
However, this trend appeared to be short-lived as the protocols experienced a sharp decline in activity post token airdrop. Hamster Kombat lost over 80% of its users immediately following the cryptocurrency rollout. Crypto giants such as Binance and Gate have also published reports showing a decline in the liveliness of the Telegram mini app.
