Ripple donates $100k in XRP for California wildfire relief

Ripple has pledged $100,000 in XRP to help recovery efforts of communities affected by the ongoing California wildfires.

The donation will benefit World Central Kitchen and GiveDirectly, nonprofit organizations focused on both emergency relief and long-term rebuilding support.

The impact of the contribution, facilitated through crypto philanthropy platform The Giving Block, will be doubled thanks to a commitment from entrepreneur Jared Isaacman.

Ripple (XRP) highlighted blockchain’s growing role in charitable giving, emphasizing its commitment to supporting disaster relief through cryptocurrency donations.

California wildfires

California has been plagued by severe wildfires this season, especially in Southern California, where fires have rapidly spread to the Los Angeles area since January 7, according to the New York Times.

The combination of hurricane-force Santa Ana winds, low humidity, and prolonged drought conditions exacerbated the situation, resulting in the displacement of thousands of residents and significant property damage.

World Central Kitchen, known for providing meals to disaster-affected areas, and GiveDirectly, which provides direct cash assistance to affected communities, will be the main recipients of Ripple’s donation.
