Telegram announces mini app store to bolster blockchain activities

Telegram CEO Pavel Durov announced plans to introduce a mini app store to accelerate blockchain adoption and related activities.

Durov announced this news via the Telegram channel, emphasizing that the platform will see significant growth in blockchain-related activities in 2024. The mini app store is part of Telegram’s strategy to lead the developing sector.

Tap to win craze on Telegram

Telegram’s plans come amid a surge in interest and adoption in the Telegram mini app (TMA) market. Telegram-based tap-to-win games have been very popular in recent months, with Notcoin and Hamster Kombat also gaining notable momentum.

Another name that has taken a big step in the crypto sector is the Layer-1 blockchain network The Open Network (TON), whose native token is Toncoin (TON).

“2024 will go down in history as the year when hundreds of millions of people will be introduced to blockchain. We are proud that Telegram is at the center of this societal transformation. To keep the flame alive, this month we will introduce a mini app store and in-app browser with support for Web3 pages,” Telegram CEO wrote.

Telegram to help combat scammers in the cryptocurrency market

Telegram aims to promote blockchain adoption as well as combat scammers and fraudsters in the crypto market. This effort will include displaying registration details such as month or country for public accounts.

“We will also increase our efforts to combat scammers who try to scam newcomers to the crypto space. Soon Telegram will start displaying the registration month and home country for public accounts (similar to Instagram). We will also allow organizations to use their mini-apps to publish tags for channels and create a decentralized marketplace for third-party verification,” Durov added.
