84% of Polymarket punters believe Donald Trump is likely to launch a token

As the US presidential election approaches, the two contenders continue to make various moves to capture the public’s attention.

Republican candidate Donald Trump has redoubled his efforts to win votes from crypto investors. Following Friday’s announcement by a crypto-centric platform called World Liberty Financial, 84% of punters on the largest prediction market, Polymarket, expressed confidence that Trump will release his testimony before the election date. At the time of publication, however, that figure was down to 69%.

Trump will launch his own token

Earlier on Friday, CryptoPotato covered details about Donald Trump’s World Liberty Financial, indicating that the platform will launch on September 16 via Twitter Spaces. The project’s set of services includes a digital wallet for lending and borrowing, a system of credit accounts and asset storage. It also promises US investors access to DeFi products.

Since Trump’s World Liberty Financial secured a partnership with DeFi lender Aave, the platform will likely enter the Ethereum network once it launches.

A close look at their white paper shows that a government token, WLFI, will be deployed to boot the crypto platform. The announcement of the launch of World Liberty Financial reinforced the conviction of the bettors that Trump will introduce a witness.

Polymarket data shows that punters began speculating about the possibility of Trump launching a token in mid-June. That period coincided with the flood of Trump-related meme coins into the crypto market. One such witness was DJT, a controversial meme created by an ex-convict to support the crypto-friendly presidential candidate.

Expected outcome of the prediction market?

The Polymarket website shows that the prediction market for the question “Will Trump flip a coin before the election?” will resolve “Yes” if Trump releases a new token before November 4, 2024, one day before the country’s presidential election. The information must be verifiable from a credible source.

If, on the other hand, the presidential aspirant does not release any tokens, the market will resolve “No”.
