GAMEE, the mobile gaming platform behind WatBird, has received investment from Pantera Capital to expand its presence on The Open Network.
Animoca Brands’ gaming subsidiary GAMEE has raised investment from Pantera Capital, a California-based venture capital firm, to expand its reach across multiple blockchain networks, according to an August 21 press release.
While the size of the funding was not disclosed, it appears that the investment will help GAMEE expand its presence on The Open Network (TON) via WatBird, a Telegram-based app. Animoca notes that the investment from Pantera follows GAMEE’s recent investment from TON Ventures, a venture capital firm focused on supporting TON-based startups.
Commenting on the funding, GAMEE co-founder Bozena Rezab said the investment represents “a significant vote of confidence in our vision to seamlessly integrate web3 mechanics into the gaming experiences we develop for our community of 90 million players.”
“This support will help us accelerate our mission to strengthen community engagement with the TON ecosystem.”

For Pantera Capital, the investment is another step in doubling down on its strategic investment in TON. The company announced its “largest investment ever” in the network in May, emphasizing its belief in the potential of the bankrupt FTX exchange in TON. At the time, Pantera said it decided to invest in TON as a platform to “introduce crypto to the masses, as it is widely used on the Telegram network.”
While Pantera did not disclose the amount of its investment in GAMEE, it follows its $250 million acquisition of Solana (SOL) from the legacy of bankrupt exchange FTX, underscoring the firm’s ongoing commitment to expanding its influence in the blockchain space.
