Binance Futures introduces SONIC perpetual contracts with up to 75x Leverage

Binance facilitates the exchange of Fantom to SONIC while introducing new permanent trading options.

Binance Futures announced SONICUSDT perpetual contracts offering up to 75x leverage on January 8, 2025 at 15:00 (GMT+8). These contracts will be settled in USDT every four hours and funding rates will be limited to ±2.00%. This launch coincides with the ongoing transition from Fantom (FTM) to Sonic (S) tokens, offering users a new way to trade Sonic SVM on the Futures market.

As part of the transition from FTM to Sonic, all FTM trading pairs will be delisted on January 13, 2025. Binance announced a 1:1 token swap that allows FTM holders to seamlessly convert their tokens to S tokens.

On January 16, 2025, S token trading will officially begin, featuring new pairs such as S/USDT, S/BTC, and S/BNB. Binance enabled customers to automatically convert their FTM assets into Sonic tokens without the need for manual intervention.

SONICUSDT perpetual futures contracts are designed for 24-hour trading with no expiration date, offering investors significant flexibility. Additionally, these contracts are compatible with Binance’s multi-asset margin model; This model allows users to leverage assets other than USDT (such as Bitcoin) to meet margin requirements.

It is important to note that SONICUSDT’s presence on Binance Futures does not guarantee its listing on Binance Spot. Also, permanent contracts are different from spot trading. Key parameters, including funding rates, leverage and margin requirements, may be subject to adjustments based on market conditions.

As S tokens replace FTM, users are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the new ecosystem, which offers features such as an incentive program and governance opportunities for developers. The transition reflects Binance’s ongoing efforts to adapt to evolving blockchain projects while offering a variety of trading options to its users.
