Spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds in the United States posted outflows for the third consecutive day this year as Bitcoin fell below $90,000 amid a broader market risk-off sentiment.
According to data from SoSoValue, 12 spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded net outflows of $284.19 million on Jan. 13, extending the outflow streak to three days, during which more than $1 billion outflowed from the funds.
Fidelity’s FBTC led the way with $113.64 million outflow from the fund on Monday, followed by ARK 21Shares’ ARKB with $92.36 million outflow.
Grayscale’s GBTC and Bitwise’s BITB also contributed to the negative momentum, with investors withdrawing $89.01 million and $18.64 million from funds, respectively.
Meanwhile, BlackRock’s IBIT stood out as the only exception, recording an inflow of $29.46 million. The remaining Bitcoin ETFs did not report any flows on the day.
The total trading volume of the 12 Bitcoin ETFs was $3.17 billion, slightly below the $3.26 billion recorded the previous day.
The significant outflows recorded on January 13 coincided with the flagship cryptocurrency Bitcoin briefly falling below the $90,000 level on Monday.
Crypto assets have been declining since last week following stronger-than-expected payroll figures that caused a rise in bond yields. Additionally, concerns about President-elect Donald Trump’s tariff plans have boosted the dollar and put pressure on Bitcoin and other risky assets.
At press time, Bitcoin (BTC) has recovered above $95,000, up 1%; As many analysts have noted, it is an important support level for the potential to break above $100,000.
Ethereum ETFs also face outflows
Nine Ethereum exchange-traded funds recorded outflows for the fourth consecutive day on January 13, with $39.43 million withdrawn from the funds.
Grayscale’s Ethereum Mini Trust reported an outflow of $37.84 million on the day, and its GBTC fund also added to the negative momentum with an outflow of $14.49 million from the fund.
BlackRock’s ETHA managed to offset some outflows, with inflows of $12.9 million observed on the day. The remaining ETF ETFs were inactive on the day.
Ethereum (ETH) was down 1.9% at $3,175 at the time of writing.
