BTC Price Hits $60,000 For First Time In 9 Days, DOGE And SHIB Jump 4% (Weekend Watch)

Bitcoin’s weekend revival continues as the asset soared above $60,000 for the first time since last Friday’s massacre following the failed assassination attempt on Donald Trump.

Several altcoins have performed even better in the last day, including DOGE, NEAR, SOL and others.

BTC jumps above $60,000

Perhaps driven by the uncertainty of the distribution of Mt. Gox BTC and German Govt Shares, the major cryptocurrency poured heavily 9 days ago from over $58,000 to a multi-month low of under $54,000.

The bulls started a recovery attempt that stalled at first but resumed at the start of the final work week. Additionally, bitcoin broke above $59,000 on a few occasions, the latest of which came after Thursday’s favorable US CPI data.

However, it failed to sustain the momentum and returned to $56,500 on Friday evening, but regained some ground on Saturday to settle around $58,000. The unfortunate events surrounding US presidential candidate Donald Trump led to increased volatility in the market, but the failed assassination attempt led to a rally for BTC and most of the market.

More specifically, bitcoin jumped above $60,000 for the first time since the previous Friday and now sits there as well. Its market capitalization has approached $1.2 trillion, while its dominance of the highs has increased to 51%.

Aside from all the Trump-related stocks that have shot up by double digits, most other larger-cap alternatives have turned green now. Ethereum has hit $3,200 after a 2% increase, while BNB is close to $540 after a small daily jump.

The most impressive gains come from Solana (4%), Dogecoin (4%) and Shiba Inu (3.6%). Mid-cap alternatives have also produced massive gains, with ICP leading the pack with a 9.5% increase. APT, NEAR and MKR follow suit.

The total crypto market capitalization has increased by more than $110 billion since Friday and by $50 billion in one day to $2.33 trillion in CG.
