Within the framework of its plan to accelerate the spread of driverless vehicles, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has first approved nine car manufacturers to test their vehicles with advanced autonomous driving technology on public roads. Pilot projects will be launched to test vehicles with smart connectivity on the roads in seven cities of the country, including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
Vehicles of this type will include a range of categories, from passenger cars to buses and trucks. The pilot project phase will include a rigorous testing process and security evaluations. The data obtained will be used to evaluate the performance of smart connected vehicles and will give ideas on how they can be integrated with valid traffic systems and how road safety can be improved as a whole.
tests, BYDAnd Nio It will be carried out by manufacturing companies such as Changan Automobile, GAC and SAIC, as well as major state-owned manufacturers such as Changan Automobile, GAC and SAIC. Taxis called from the internet will also be included in the testing process.
