Crypto Finance, a subsidiary of Germany’s largest exchange operator, has signed a deal with Commerzbank (CBK) to offer trading services to the lender’s corporate clients, just two weeks after reaching a similar agreement with Switzerland’s Zürcher Kantonalbank (ZKB).
Commerzbank, the country’s second-largest bank by branch count, will provide custody services, the companies said in a press release today. The trading service, offered by the Deutsche Boerse unit, will be available to clients based in Germany and will initially focus on trading bitcoin (BTC) and ether (ETH), the two largest cryptocurrencies.
Gernot Kleckner, head of capital markets for institutional clients at Commerzbank, said: “Our offer for digital assets enables our institutional clients to seize the opportunities offered by bitcoin and ether for the first time. At the same time, our partnership with Deutsche Boerse Group represents the highest level of security in trading and storing crypto assets.”
Commerzbank received its crypto custody license in Germany in November 2023. The license allows the financial services firm to offer a range of services related to digital assets.
