Critical Alert from the Shiba Inu (SHIB) Team: Telegram users beware

TL;DR

Shibarmy scam alerts warned SHIB users about bad actors impersonating Telegram administrators and urged them to verify profiles before participating. They also warned against fake Treat tokens, reminding the community that the meme coin has not been released yet. Beware of this scam

The team behind Shibarmy Scam Alerts warned Shiba Inu (SHIB) users to be extra cautious when messaging dubious people on Telegram. The task force argued that fraudsters had created fake profiles of administrators and moderators on the app with the sole purpose of tricking victims.

“They are using the BIO section to display the username, making their profiles look authentic at first glance,” the warning reads.

The team said that SHIB developers will never contact users to provide support or fix any issues related to wallets. “If someone contacts you first, claiming to be an admin, it’s likely a scam. Always check by comparing usernames to official channels,” they added.

The SHIB community is asked to be vigilant when dealing with anyone claiming to be part of the team. Double-checking username format and reporting any potential fraudulent activity were mentioned as vital tips.

Last year, the Shiba Inu team issued a similar warning to Telegram users. Specifically, they claimed that bad actors could seek victims’ personal and financial information or even insist on sending funds to suspicious addresses.

“Avoid sharing personal details such as address, phone number or financial information. Legitimate entities will not request these details through Telegram direct messages. Avoid transactions involving money. Never send money or cryptocurrency based Telegram requests,” the task force advised.

The previous alert

Earlier this week, Shibarmy Scam Alerts warned the SHIB community to be careful when mysterious people offer them opportunities with the Treat token. The team reminded that the meme currency has not yet seen the light of day:

“This is a reminder that some groups are pushing fake Treat testimonials that claim to be part of the Shiba Inu ecosystem. Please remember that the official Treat testimonial has NOT been released yet. Any testimonials that claim otherwise it’s a scam designed to trick you.”

The developers promised to make an official announcement once the token is up and running. “If you are unsure of any information or testimony, always check through trusted sources within the Shiba Inu ecosystem,” they added.
