D3 Global, a web3 domain company, has launched top-level domains for the ApeCoin community.
In the company’s announcement published on October 22, it was stated that the ApeCoin (APE) ecosystem can now use .APE top-level domains in the newly launched layer-2 solution ApeChain.
The Ape Names initiative is the first step in the crypto project’s quest to provide its users with an interoperable name service.
Community approved .APE domain name offering
D3’s launch of .APE domains stems from a proposal for top-level domains that the ApeCoin community approved earlier this year. The vote is in line with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers’ plans to introduce new public TLDs within the next two years.
According to D3’s announcement, the launch of .APE top-level domains allows users to purchase and use tokenized Ape Names as web3 identifiers. This feature will be available before the next ICANN application round.
Specifically, ApeCoin holders can use tokenized names for a variety of purposes, including email addresses, wallet addresses, decentralized infrastructure identifiers, and web3 usernames.
“There is an urgent need for a comprehensive, all-in-one naming solution that will not only facilitate the growth of the APE brand and community, but also provide future usability for users. “The APE Foundation is excited to work closely with D3 to jointly build the future of the internet for Apes by Apes.”

D3 will make .APE domains publicly available to token holders in due course.
It is currently the domain partner of several blockchain user communities, including D3, Shiba Inu, Magic Eden, NEAR Protocol, Own The Doge, and Core DAO.
Aside from D3’s traction in the space, other companies helping bring domains to crypto users include GoDaddy, Ethereum Name Service, and Unstoppable Domains. In February, GoDaddy and ENS partnered to bring .eth domains to the community.
