Former Trump aide Anthony Scaramucci joins Kamala Harris to draft crypto policies

Anthony Scaramucci, founder of New York-based investment firm SkyBridge Capital, has revealed that he is working with Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris to draft crypto policies for her campaign.

According to a report by CNBC, Scaramucci made the revelation at the annual crypto conference TOKEN2049 on Thursday. He told a panel during the conference that several crypto advocates are currently in talks with Harris to draft industry-friendly policies ahead of the November election. Scaramucci stated that Harris will participate in some of these crypto-related discussions later this week.

The SkyBridge founder noted that crypto advocates are working to distance Democrats from Sen. Elizabeth Warren and SEC Chairman Gary Gensler, both of whom are known for their hostility toward the industry.

“There’s a group of cryptocurrency advocates, bitcoin advocates, etc. that are working alongside him to take the Democratic Party away from Elizabeth Warren and (Gary Gensler),” he said.

Scaramucci Applauds Trump’s Crypto-Friendly Stance

Despite the strained relationship between Scaramucci and former President Donald Trump, he praised the latter for recognizing the importance of the crypto industry. Scaramucci previously served as Trump’s White House communications director in 2017, but was later fired after six days.

“Whatever my feelings about President Trump, I applaud him for understanding the importance of this industry to America, and ironically, I think he’s leading Democrats to a centrist position on regulation,” Scaramucci said.

In recent months, Trump has positioned himself as a crypto-friendly candidate by vocally supporting bitcoin and defending the crypto industry. His family has also launched a project called World Liberty Financial, which is designed to function as a crypto banking system.

Cryptography is not a partisan issue

While Harris has not officially stated his crypto position, Scaramucci stated that they are working to draft policies that will benefit the crypto industry. He added that their efforts have moved in the right direction.

Scaramucci further noted that he and other crypto advocates are looking to prevent politics from becoming a partisan issue. According to him, “they want crypto in the US to have a bipartisan standard free of political and tribal strife.”

Meanwhile, despite his unclear position, Harris has continued to receive support from prominent crypto advocates, including Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen.
