The price of the KENNEDY meme coin fell by nearly 22% late Tuesday after Robert F Kennedy Jr.’s running mate said he was considering quitting RFK Jr.’s election campaign.
On Tuesday, August 20, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.-themed meme coin KENNEDY took a nosedive after his running mate hinted in a podcast interview that RFK Jr. might drop out of the presidential race to support former President Donald J. Trump.
Kennedy’s vice presidential running mate, Nicole Shanahan, revealed in a podcast interview on the YouTube channel “Tom Bilyeu” that the pair are currently considering two options: either continuing as independents or dropping out to support former President Donald Trump.
“We have two options and one is to stay in the party, to form a new party, but Kamala Harris and [Tim] Walz presidency because we took votes from Trump. [Or] “We are walking away immediately and joining forces with Donald Trump… and explaining to our base why we made this decision.”

Following the announcement, the price of the KENNEDY meme coin on Solana fell 21.8% to $0.0001384, according to DEXScreener data. Other political meme coins received mixed reactions, with TrumpCoin (DJT) down 0.02% to $0.0001421, MAGA (TRUMP) down 3.26% to $2.63, and the Solana-based HARRIS coin down more than 18% to $0.0006471.
In response to Shanahan’s comments, Trump told CNN that he would “absolutely” consider giving Robert F. Kennedy Jr. a role in his administration if Kennedy ends his independent candidacy and supports him.
The latest development comes as Democrats and Republicans take different stances on their approaches to crypto. The Trump team has increasingly aligned itself with crypto advocates, with the Republican nominee appointing several pro-crypto figures to his transition team. Meanwhile, rumors suggest that Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Gary Gensler could be tapped to be Treasury Secretary if Vice President Kamala Harris wins the November presidential election.
