Ripple lawsuit against US agency

Over the past few years, Ripple has faced numerous lawsuits against the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This case started in 2020 with the sale of XRP, which was considered an unregistered security.

In July last year, the court ruled that XRP sales were not collateral because the product did not comply with the investment contract. But U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres still fined the company $125 million for violating corporate sales.

Later in October 2024, the commission challenged the court’s decision, requesting further review of XRP’s classification. This incident affected not only the company but also the crypto industry.

Following the announcement of Paul Atkins as SEC chairman, the Ripple executive praised Trump’s decision. Brad Garlinghouse called this an “extraordinary choice” as he hopes this will be the end of the crypto ban era.
