Iconic music venue Le Poisson Rouge (LPR) in New York City has signed an exclusive partnership with live event ticketing platform KYD Labs to bring its ticketing system to the chain.
On Tuesday, Aptos Labs announced a four-year exclusive deal with KYD Labs LPR under which the Aptos blockchain will power all shows and tickets at the historic New York venue.
LPR becomes first major US venue to go all-on-chain
The Aptos team said in a statement on X that this partnership is the first time a major US venue has been fully connected to the chain. Aptos added that this is a significant milestone for Web3 and that this partnership will deliver a new experience for Le Poisson Rouge’s event attendees and music fans.
“A major US venue that sells hundreds of thousands of tickets per year moving to an on-chain ticketing system is a big step for blockchain benefits. Eventually, the ticketing system will be completely on-chain. Better interoperability, connecting event organizers directly to buyers, easy promotions, and verified secondary sales are some big benefits,” said Avery Ching, CTO and co-founder of Aptos Labs.
KYD Labs will help LPR leverage the benefits of blockchain technology to improve the ticketing experience for fans. Leveraging Aptos’ technology will also be important for artists who can engage more with their fans through on-chain initiatives.
Switching to a blockchain system eliminates the challenges and barriers associated with traditional ticketing systems.
Overall, LPR will use Aptos not only to track secondary ticket sales, but also to offer a transparent mechanism for loyalty programs, pricing, and booking rates.
Le Poisson Rouge opened in 2008 and has become a historic music venue in New York. Aptos is a Layer-1 blockchain that launched in October 2022 and offers a scalable, low-transaction-cost network.
