MicroStrategy’s latest Bitcoin purchase brings total holdings to 446,400 BTC

The world’s largest corporate bitcoin holder continues its accumulation phase by committing another $209 million to buy 2,136 BTC.

With this eight consecutive Monday buying, the company’s stockpile has soared to 446,000 BTC.

After the multibillion-dollar acquisitions announced in November and early December, MicroStrategy has slowed its investments in BTC, but still continues to allocate millions.

The latest, announced today by co-founder Michael Saylor, had an average price of $97.834 per BTC. The company has now spent just $28 billion to build its stock at an average price of $62,428.

While the price of bitcoin is about 15% off its all-time high recorded last week, MicroStrategy’s holdings are currently worth $41.5 billion. This means the company now has an unrealized profit of over $13 billion.

However, as with recent purchases, Peter Schiff, the well-known BTC critic, was the first to hit Saylor and the company he co-founded. The gold bug has repeatedly claimed that MicroStrategy’s purchases are the only thing that pushed BTC’s price north. Now he said this “smaller buy” at an average price above the current one cannot keep the asset up.

It is worth noting that the price of BTC has fallen in recent weeks. It went from over $108,000 to its current level of $93,000, losing 15% in the process after the last FOMC meeting of the year.
