TL;DR
The Shiba Inu Virtual World, powered by Shibarium, offers users the ability to own, trade and develop blockchain-encoded virtual real estate. Over the past few years, Shiba Inu has grown with projects like Shibarium, Shiba Eternity, and Shiboshi Rush, showing its rapid evolution from a meme currency to a larger ecosystem. “Welcome to SHIB: The Metaverse”
Shiba Inu recently announced the launch of a virtual world called “SHIB: The Metaverse”. LUCIE (Marketing Manager at Shibarium) described the project as “groundbreaking”. Powered by the Layer 2 scaling solution, “SHIB: The Metaverse” represents a platform for “creativity, connection and ownership.”
LUCIE further explained that the project allows users to own, trade and develop virtual real estate registered on the blockchain.
People can also create custom avatars, build their own vision, and connect globally with other members of the SHIB community.
For his part, Seizan_Shib published a short video on X, showing what the project looks like. User X said that “SHIB: The Metaverse” is now live, but warned that it is still in beta. One person who reacted was Shiba Inu lead developer Shytoshi Kusama. They retweeted the post, simply saying, “Beautiful.”
Previous projects related to SHIB
In recent years, Shiba Inu has expanded significantly beyond just being a meme currency. The self-proclaimed Dogecoin-killer has evolved into a wider ecosystem with several notable developments.
An obvious example is their L2 blockchain solution: Shibarium. It was officially launched last summer and is specifically designed to lower transaction fees, improve speed and improve scalability. Earlier this week, Shibarium hit another major milestone. As reported by CryptoPotato, the total number of transactions processed on the network exceeded 700 million.
Shiba Inu has also entered the gaming sector. In October, the team introduced Shiboshi Rush, which allows players to deploy their troops to certain locations and “use multiplier gates” to grow their armies.
Before that, the developers released Shiba Eternity, which is perhaps the most popular game in the ecosystem. It allows players to trade, collect and battle with cards featuring numerous characters, items and themes inspired by the meme currency.
In August, LUCIE revealed that the game’s “closed beta” is live. They stated that Shiba Eternity is not “just the same old game with minor tweaks”, but a complete transition to Web3, with significant updates. These include a redesigned ranking system, exclusive tournaments for advanced players, an improved and user-friendly interface, and more generous rewards.
