Sonic testnet sees 1m active wallets and 600m transactions

Sonic, a layer 2 gaming network on Solana, announced that its testnet has reached 1 million monthly active addresses and recorded over 600 million transactions.

L2 is the first gaming platform to support the Solana (SOL) virtual machine. It is different from the Phantom (FTM) Sonic upgrade.

In details shared with crypto.news on August 8, Sonic SVM said that the first phase of its testnet has reached over 1 million active addresses. The total number of transactions has exceeded 600 million, and the first phase of the network’s testnet, Sonic Origins, allows users to interact with games like Rage Effect, JogoJogo, and LowLifeForms.

The latest testnet milestone came after the release of Sonic Testnet Odyssey in June.

Sonic eyes focus on organic growth

In addition to providing Sonic with the opportunity to improve throughput and network stability, the testnet also allowed users to measure Sonic’s gameplay and Web3 experience.

“Sonic Origins has seen impressive results in user engagement and demand, and we’re excited to see real-world implementation and the organic growth of a community around Sonic as we launch as one of the first SVMs on Solana,” said Chris Zhu, co-founder of Sonic SVM.

Origins is followed by Sonic Frontier, the second phase of the testnet, which will see more games and partners join. Frontier is also opening the network to existing Solana protocols in order to give users a broader base to interact with decentralized applications on Sonic SVM.

Additionally, more validators will join the network during this phase, and they will leverage HyperGrid’s shared validator network to finalize grid transactions on Solana. HyperGrid is a horizontal scaling solution that enables parallel transaction processing and allows developers to build and deploy new games on Solana.

Sonic, which raised $12 million in a Series A round in June, will launch its mainnet after the Frontier testnet is complete.
