Space and Time releases sub-second ZK Prover under open software license

Proof of SQL is much faster than state-of-the-art zkVMs and coprocessors.

Space and Time (SxT), the verifiable computation layer for AI and blockchain, today released Proof of SQL, a high-performance zero-knowledge prover for data processing, on GitHub.

Proof of SQL is a new ToM proof developed by SxT that cryptographically guarantees that SQL database queries are accurately calculated against untampered information. Using Proof of SQL, developers can robustly perform calculations on both on-chain and off-chain datasets and prove the result back to their smart contracts in time, during a process to power more sophisticated DeFi protocols with data-driven smart contracts.

Proof of SQL was released in alpha for a reasonable number of cluster SxT customers in August. With the release published on GitHub today, the protocol is now publicly available. Community members can run legitimate queries on SxT in Space and Time Studio, and developers can download the repository directly from GitHub.

Proof of SQL is the first ToM prover that runs in under a second. In the latest benchmarks by the SxT cryptography group, the protocol can execute analytical queries on 100,000-row tables in less than a second on a single GPU and aggregate millions of rows of indexed information in Ethereum block time on a single NVIDIA T4.

Proof of SQL offers a much more performant architecture than generalized zkVMs and coprocessors for processing large volumes of data. While generalized zkVMs offer an extensible solution for arbitrary computations, data processing is slow to prove.

SQL proof can be integrated with these zkVMs to provide verifiable source data on which arbitrary code can be executed. In addition to contributions from the community, Space and Time encourages and invites other ZKP engineering teams to collaborate on the repository. The validator can be integrated into any centralized or decentralized SQL database (such as Google BigQuery) and currently secures some of the most prominent Web3 applications, financial institutions, and businesses.
