Succinct Labs and OP Labs have collaborated on a zero-knowledge proof solution that significantly improves transaction finality and gas costs compared to optimistic rollups.
Succinct Labs announced on September 11 that it has partnered with OP Labs, a startup that contributed to the development of the Optimism (OP) protocol, to create OP Succinct.

Paradigm-backed Succinct and OP Labs’ collaboration on OP Succinct combines the general-purpose zero-knowledge virtual machine SP1 with the OP Stack to deliver zkEVM aggregation.
With this new solution, it is now cheaper and faster to upgrade OP Stack chains to use zero-knowledge proofs. According to Succinct Labs, OP Succinct is also highly customizable.
“OP Stack’s modular design makes it easy to convert an OP Stack aggregation to a ZK aggregation. OP Succinct’s two-step integration requires minimal code and easily fits into existing deployments, including aggregation service installations,” wrote Succinct Labs on X.
Fast accuracy and lower gas costs
ZK rollup development adds to the growing ecosystem of layer 2 scaling solutions with off-chain proof of transaction offering fast finality and reduced gas costs.
Having secured $55 million in a funding round led by Paradigm in March 2024, OP Labs and Succinct Labs are bringing it to market with OP Succinct.
Being able to upgrade an OP Stack to use ZKPs within an hour greatly improves the seven-day fraud-proof window applied to standard optimistic rollups. Proof costs are also between 0.5 and 1 cent, compared to the higher costs of 1.34 cents on OP Mainnet and 1.11 cents on OP Sepolia.
