TL;DR
The Shiba Inu community was warned about scammers asking for emails related to SHIFU purchases or claims. Users should avoid sharing personal data and verify information only through official channels. Watch out, ShibArmy
Shibarium Trustwatch recently issued another major alert about the Shiba Inu community. The team warned that the scammers ask victims to send them an email with information about the SHIFU meme coin.
“Scammers ask people to email them asking how to buy and claim SHIFU or if SHIFU has not appeared in their wallet,” the warning says.
The team advised people to be careful and not to send emails to anyone. It is also essential to verify information through official channels and avoid sharing personal data.
SHIFU is a dog-themed Shiba Inu related meme coin introduced by lead developer Shytoshi Kusama in early December. Although it is available for trading on certain decentralized exchanges, major platforms such as Binance have not yet listed it.
Earlier this week, the meme coin project launched a special release. The team revealed that 30% of the total token supply (which is equivalent to 30 billion SHIFU) will be distributed to the community. 22 billion SHIFU will come to some who have at least 100,000 SHIB and 100 BUBBLE. Eligible LEASH holders will be allocated 2 billion tokens, while lucky BONE owners will get 1 billion coins.
The remaining 70% of the supply will be distributed for other purposes such as “liquidity and public pre-sale”, treasury and market initiatives.
Previous Notices
Shiba Inu has one of the largest community bases, which explains why scammers often target it. Last month, Shibarium Trustwatch warned users to stay away from dubious people offering services with SHI and TREAT meme coins.
The team said that the tokens are not yet available, and advised people to follow the official X accounts of Shiba Inu, Shytoshi Kusama (the pseudonymous main developer of the meme currency), Kaal Dhairya (another prominent developer ) and Treat for more clarity on the matter.
A few weeks later, Shibarium Trustwatch claimed that bad actors are using Shytoshi Kusama’s name to promote fraudulent listings in fake groups.
“Always verify the authenticity of any group or testimonial before participating. Be vigilant and protect yourself and others from these scams,” the warning reads.
