Travala has signed a major partnership with travel marketplace Skyscanner, enabling millions of travelers worldwide to pay for hotel reservations with cryptocurrency.
Crypto-based travel platform Travala announced on September 5 that it has integrated with Skyscanner, making Travala.com’s inventory of over 2.2 million hotels available to Skyscanner users.
Travala supports over 100 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), BNB (BNB), Tether (USDT), and XRP (XRP).
Visibility to help crypto adoption
Launched in 2017, Travala has grown to include booking integrations with more than 2.2 million properties across 230 countries. Skyscanner, which has 110 million monthly users, will now offer the option to book hotels paid for with cryptocurrencies through Travala.com.
The integration of the two platforms will allow Skyscanner users to explore Travala alongside global travel agencies such as Expedia, Agoda and Booking.com.
As such, Skyscanner’s search results will list hotels on Travala.com, and travelers who select destinations on the crypto-local platform’s list will be able to pay with crypto. Travala CEO Juan Otero noted that this global visibility will increase overall adoption.
“Visibility is a key component of mass crypto adoption. By featuring Travala.com on one of the world’s most popular travel marketplaces on Skyscanner, we are demonstrating the utility of crypto and showcasing it as an available option from the moment travelers first search.”
Juan Otero, CEO of Travala.com
Travala will offer a rewards program for users who pay with cryptocurrency, including up to 10% BTC discount. Web3’s travel loyalty program AVA Smart Program will facilitate this rewards system.
