Trump Meme Coins Tumble After ‘Confused’ Presidential Debate.

Donald Trump-themed meme coin MAGA (TRUMP) is down 15% over the past 12 hours after a lackluster performance in the September 10 presidential debate.

TRUMP hit an intraday high of $3.42 ahead of his showdown with Democratic challenger Kamala Harris. However, it dropped to $2.89 as the debate wore on and Trump appeared more agitated. The meme coin hit an all-time high of $17.51 on June 1, but has since fallen about 83%.

Other stocks linked to Trump but not directly affiliated, such as MAGA Hat (MAGA), sank further, falling more than 18%.

Bitcoin prices also reacted with a 1.7% drop at the time of the debate, falling to $56,746 at the time of writing.

Breaking The Debate

Donald Trump’s performance was below what seemed to have lost the energy and vibe of his MAGA (Make America Great Again) campaign.

CHEV partner Adam Cochran said it looked “failed,” adding that this campaign “actually seems to be taking its toll on Trump. He’s tired and on the back foot.”

Strange to see Trump so faded.

Flat hair, less energy and when Harris speaks he seems tired or upset.

It’s not the mocking faces and engaged energy you saw years ago.

In reality, this campaign seems to be taking its toll on Trump.

Economist and trader Alex Krüger agreed in part, stating that Harris seemed “cool and in control” while Trump was “angry, bewildered at times”. He also agreed with the general consensus that the panel moderators were clearly on Kamala’s side.

Goldbug Peter Schiff called it a “disgrace,” adding that ABC, which hosted the debate, “didn’t ask a single question about the rising national debt, the rising cost of servicing that debt , out-of-control spending on entitlements, high inflation, rising unemployment, record consumer debt or minimal savings.”

In polls released earlier this week, the race for the Oval Office was as close as it has been, with Harris and Trump at 49 percent support among registered voters.

Win for both?

Both candidates declared victory after the debate, according to reports. The Trump team said:

“We saw President Trump lay out his bold vision for America and how he would continue to build on the successes of his first term by growing the economy, securing the border and preventing crime from ravaging communities across the country.” .

Meanwhile, Kamala Harris’ camp said: “Donald Trump was totally incoherent,” before adding:

“Under the bright lights, the American people were able to see the choice they’ll face at the polls this fall: forward with Kamala Harris or backward with Trump.”
