Trump’s lead over Harris is growing

Donald Trump has increased his lead over Kamala Harris on Polymarket as the 2024 US presidential election approaches.

After a near-tie period in mid-August, Trump’s odds on Polymarket have risen by a few points, with 53% of bettors supporting him, compared to 47% for Harris.

The shift marks a reversal for Donald Trump, whose chances have waned after Joe Biden announced he would not seek re-election, giving the incumbent Vice President a temporary boost.

Despite the 53% increase, Trump’s odds are still much lower than the 72% peak reached after the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, Texas, in late July.

Trump and crypto

Trump’s resurgence can be attributed in part to his strong appeal among crypto investors, an increasingly influential demographic in this election, according to Coinbase.

His pro-crypto stance, including promises to support the Bitcoin (BTC) industry and blockchain initiatives, has found resonance among prominent figures in the crypto world.

On August 27, Trump announced his fourth NFT collection, “Series 4: The America First Collection,” which offers digital trading cards through Bitcoin Ordinals. Two days later, he announced plans to make the U.S. the “crypto capital of the planet” if he is re-elected, referencing his venture, World Liberty Financial.

Harris’ campaign, on the other hand, has struggled to gain momentum among Polymarket users, especially following major events like the Democratic National Convention, where cryptocurrencies were noticeably absent from the discourse.

During this election season, both parties aimed to appeal to the crypto community and its financial contributions by appealing to the crypto community. As a result, Polymarket election bettors were quite excited and things are expected to get even crazier as the election season approaches.
