This Giant Altcoin, Also in the Basket of Turks, Was Attacked!

Cardano’s rapid developer response effectively mitigated a DDoS attack. Thus, the altcoin team quickly ensured network stability and security. The attack aimed to disrupt Cardano by executing 194 smart contracts per transaction, consuming 0.9 ADA each. The developers stopped the attack by unregistering the attacker’s staking credentials. Additionally, the developers managed to get some funds back in this process.

Hackers attacked, but the Cardano group repelled the attack!

Cryptocoin.com As you can see from , hacking attacks are not rare in the crypto world. This time, the attackers were targeting the leading altcoin project Cardano. Cardano encountered a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack targeting staked ADA tokens on Tuesday. However, the altcoin project successfully defended against this influx. Moreover, despite the attack, the network remained fully operational. The DDoS attack aimed to overwhelm the Blockchain with spam processes in order to disrupt its services. However, a quick response from Cardano developers alleviated the threat.

As Fluid Token chief technology officer ElRaulito_cnft highlighted, the attacker launched the attack at block 10,487,530, executing 194 smart contracts per process and consuming 0.9 ADA each. The strategy was to fill the blocks with a large number of processes, thus straining the network.

Philip Disarro, founder of Cardano development firm Anastasia, quickly identified the problem. It effectively stopped the attack by deregistering the staking credential used by the attacker.

The altcoin group managed to get back some stolen funds!

In addition to blocking the attack, the developers also managed to recover some funds from the attacker. As a result, the robustness of the network was proven as it continued to operate without any random interruptions. The ability of Cardano Blockchain to withstand such an attack underlines the security measures and the efficiency of the development team. DDoS attacks are well-known attacks that aim to cause service interruption by overwhelming a targeted website with spam traffic. However, the response given by Cardano’s group ensured that the network was not affected.

Strengthening the Cardano Blockchain

Philip Disarro claimed that there were other ways to stop the attack, but his procedure was the fastest. “If you rush to get something into production without thorough testing and a high-quality, independent check, you can lose a lot of money due to vulnerabilities, just like the attacker did,” he added.

Intersect, a member-based organization for the Cardano ecosystem, later confirmed the attack. He also thanked the developer community for a quick response to the DDoS attack. Although the Cardano network was not compromised and performed normally, Intersect said, “The network experienced a higher than usual load. “In addition, some staking pool operators (SPOs) were negatively affected due to the aggravation in block height wars.” Meanwhile, the Intersect task force is collaborating to identify and test a solution to further reduce the impact of such spam attacks.
