The number of people entering and exiting China’s border gates during the Duanwu Holiday reached 5 million 752 thousand. According to the statement made by the Chinese National Immigration Administration, the number of people entering and exiting the country’s border gates during the 3-day holiday on the occasion of Duanwu Holiday increased by 45.1 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 5 million 752 thousand.
An average of 1 million 917 thousand people entered and exited the border gates daily. On June 8, the heaviest day, the number of people entering and exiting the border gates reached 1 million 976 thousand.
The holiday also stimulated domestic tourism. According to calculations made by the Data Center of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, the number of trips made throughout China during the Duanwu Holiday reached 110 million, an increase of 6.3 percent compared to the same period last year. It was stated that the total travel expenses of domestic tourists will reach 40.35 billion yuan, an increase of 8.1 percent compared to the same period last year.
